Karthik Rajaram (45) kills his mother-in-law, wife, and three sons before killing himself
Karthik had been experiencing severe financial distress, and was in “a rabbit hole … of absolute despair” according to LAPD Deputy Chief Michel Moore. He wrote two notes — one suggesting he considered only suicide while the other stated he found the murders of his family before suicide to be more “honorable” — and a will before he killed his family.
The victims were Karthik’s mother-in-law Indra Ramasesham (69), his wife Subasri (39), and their sons Krishna (19), Ganesha (12), and Arjuna (7). Karthik’s body was found in the same room as the bodies of his two younger sons. Each victim had been shot in the head, some multiple times, apparently as they slept. Police received no reports of gunshots or other noises, though it is suspected the family was shot on October 5; their bodies were found October 6 when Subasri did not show for her carpool.
