15-year-old Demetrius Griffin Jr. is burned alive in a 55-gallon metal garbage can
Demetrius had suffered burns so extensive his body was unrecognizable; investigators identified his remains through dental records. Due to the condition of his body, the medical examiner took over a month to determine Demetrius’ cause of death: he had died as a result of the burns.
As of this writing, the motive behind the killing and Demetrius’ murderer (or murderers) remain unknown. Chicago police are accepting tips and have offered a $10,000 reward.
