Actor Vic Morrow and two children — 7-year-old Myca Dinh Le, and 6-year-old Renee Shin-Yi Chen — are killed during a stunt while filming Twilight Zone: The Movie
The incident happened as the three were performing a scene set during the Vietnam War, running from an American helicopter. A pyrotechnic explosion damaged the helicopter which crashed on the actors. Morrow and Le were decapitated by the helicopter’s rotor blades while Chen was crushed by the landing struts.
Director John Landis, pilot Dorsey Wingo, and 3 other defendants were acquitted of involuntary manslaughter, though the parents of Le and Chen and the children of Morrow sued and settled for undisclosed amounts.
