From The Manning Times (Manning, SC)

Two men argued over a $6 bill until one attacked the other with an axe, striking his neck 4 times. Assuming the victim, whose head was “nearly severed,” the attacker left the scene to hide the weapon while the victim ran to a doctor’s house for help.
Aside from a handful of articles reporting the incident, I cannot find either party’s first name nor any information as to how long the victim was able to live after the attack or if the assailant was brought to justice.
