A dying man placed a mirror on a steel table while prophesying no one would be able to pick it up. Over the next 24 hours, many tried to remove it, with a nurse finally completing the task using an ice pick.
Several theories to the supposedly cursed mirror were offered, including a vacuum created between the smooth surfaces of the steel table and mirror, a chemical bond sealing the two items after sweat from the dying man’s hand reacted to the quicksilver of the mirror, or simply the power of suggestion.
