Clippings: upside-down stomach; exploding tire; elderly nurse forgets to check on her patient

From the Chicago Daily Tribune
Published February 17, 1935

One story reports on a young girl’s rare, possibly fatal medical condition which caused her stomach to turn upside down, consequently pushing her heart to the side and closing a lung. Despite her condition, she spent much of her time marveling at the tall buildings in Massachusetts

A tire exploded in the hands of a man changing said tire, throwing him to the ground. He received a broken leg, 2 broken ribs, a possibly fractured jaw, and cuts on his face and arms

A 70-year-old nurse caring for a 90-year-old patient forgot about her charge, locked the home, and left the older woman to starve. The nurse’s son visited the home to check on his mother and broke into the house when no one answered, finding the starving woman in the process.
