One of the most memorable scenes, when Alex sings and dances to Singing in the Rain while attacking the writer and his wife was improvised. Stanley Kubrick, the director, found the scene too bland and brainstormed with Malcolm McDowell (Alex) for ways to spice it up. McDowell sang the only song he could remember at that moment, and Kubrick was so happy with it he immediately paid the $10,000 for the rights to use the song in the film.
