Brenda Spencer (16) fires on children and faculty at the school across the street, killing 2 and injuring 9
Spencer, armed with a Ruger 10/22 semi-automatic .22 caliber rifle, shot children playing at the neighboring Cleveland Elementary School in San Diego. The victims killed in the shooting were the principal and custodian trying to shield and rescue children. Of the injured, 8 were children and one was a responding police officer who was shot in the neck.
Spencer surrendered eventually and reportedly explained her actions because “I don’t like Mondays.” She was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison.
