Kim De Gelder (20) enters a nursery and begins a stabbing rampage that leaves 2 babies and a childcare provider dead and a dozen more wounded
De Gelder entered the childcare center under the pretense of asking a question. Once inside, for reasons unknown, he began to attack the children with a knife. At the end of the attack, 2 children (a 6-month-old and a 9-month-old) and an adult staff member were killed, 6 children between 1 and 3 years old were seriously wounded, 4 suffered minor injuries, and 9 were unharmed.
On January 26, De Gelder was named as a lead suspect in the nursery attack as well as a previous murder of an elderly woman on January 16. On January 27, he confessed to the murders, and on March 23, 2013 was sentenced to life in prison.
