Boy’s eye shot out during play battle

January 5, 1917
Bingham, Utah

Several youths, armed with real guns, played out a war until one boy was shot in the eye. He was operated on without anesthesia and reportedly did not flinch. The “war” was brought to an end when the mayor learned of the battle, spanked several of the boys, and destroyed their guns.
