The body of Valentine Botelin is examined during her autopsy

Mme Botelin was found dead in the streets of Paris, with an obvious head injury. During autopsy she was cleaned and three distinct bullet holes could be seen. Her case appears to be unsolved.

A caption accompanying her photograph, from the book Seine de crimes: Morts suspectes à Paris 1871-1937 by Philippe Charlier reads:

Le corps de Mme Botelin
Pour son autopsie le 14 septembre 1904, Valentine Botelin repose sur des carreaux de céramique le cadavre a été nettoyé au niveau de la face et des cheveux. Ce sont au moins trois orifices de projectiles d’arme à feu qui se devinent sur la tempe et la joue gauches, cernés par les dépôts de poudre et les brûlures superficielles. Dans le cou, les ividités cadaveriques déjà présentes.

The body of Mrs. Botelin
For her autopsy on September 14, 1904, Valentine Botelin rests on ceramic tiles the corpse was cleaned at the level of the face and hair. There are at least three orifices of gun projectiles that can be seen on the left temple and cheek, surrounded by powder deposits and superficial burns. In the neck, cadaveric individuals already present.
