The nude body of an 18-year-old woman is found propped up against a headstone in a cemetery

The woman, Billie Grayson, and her 12-year-old friend were picked up by a “medium-sized, sharp-faced man” as they walked. The man asked the girls if there were many houses in the area and when the girls replied there were not, he drove a bit further and stopped the car. The younger girl was able to flee the car but the man had grabbed Billie by the neck. The two were struggling as the younger girl ran to hide in a farmhouse where she spent the night, too terrified to alert anyone to Billie’s plight. Billie was strangled with hands and a rope and her neck was broken.

Douglas Orrell was identified by the 12-year-old surviving victim and sentenced to life in prison following his conviction.
